Isaiah 8

Good Morning “Not Worried.”  Today we are in Isaiah 8.

The Book of Isaiah is complex.  As we’ve seen in previous books and chapters often prophecy is multi faceted.  Yesterday we talked about the prophecy of the coming Messiah, and the protection of the Line of David.  Within that Prophecy, with The coming Messiah in full view - also lay Prophecy regarding the destruction of those coming for Jerusalem.  (Isaiah 7:15-16)

We see the story continue in Isaiah 8:3-10.

The people are spinning out of control - hysterical.  Much like we’ve seen through the years in our own country… “Russia is going to get us, China owns us and soon they’re coming to collect, the liberals… they’re going to ruin us… wait, no, it’s the conservatives - take over is imminent.”

Within this story, with the fear of war and decimation looming down on them - we find God reminding Isaiah who’s in charge.  “This is what the Lord says to me with his strong hand upon me, warning me not to follow the way of this people: “Do not call conspiracy everything this people calls a conspiracy; do not fear what they fear, and do not dread it. The Lord Almighty is the one you are to regard as holy, he is the one you are to fear, he is the one you are to dread.”
‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭8‬:‭11‬-‭13‬ ‭NIV‬‬

What’s God saying to Isaiah?  At the risk of putting words in Gods mouth, I think He’s simply saying, I got this! Fear Me… not all the other junk people fear!  “In the Lord’s hand the king’s heart is a stream of water that he channels toward all who please him.”
‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭21‬:‭1‬ ‭NIV‬‬

The conspiracy, the hysteria is pointless because God is in sovereign control.  Get right with Him - through Jesus.  That’s always the safest answer!

“What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans‬ ‭8‬:‭31‬, ‭38‬-‭39‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Love you all!  Dig in!
