Isaiah 7

Good Morning “Sealed.”  Today we are in Isaiah 7.

Now that Isaiah is commissioned we move in to chapters 7-12 often referred to as the book of Immanuel.  If you’ve read this chapter, you likely know why.  We’re about to move into a series of prophecies regarding The Messiah.

God has a plan.  He’s always had a plan.  Jesus was coming through the line of David, the tribe of Judah.  Even in the face of evil leaders such as Ahaz, The Line of Jesus would be protected.  Jerusalem had already stood against attack once but now her enemies were regrouping and preparing once again.

“Now the house of David was told, “Aram has allied itself with Ephraim”; so the hearts of Ahaz and his people were shaken, as the trees of the forest are shaken by the wind.” Isaiah‬ ‭7‬:‭2‬ ‭NIV‬‬

The evil King Ahaz existed on his own strength or so he thought - naturally he shuttered in the face of a potential decimating attack.  Isaiah brings Ahaz a message from God.  Simply put: “…It will not take place, it will not happen,” Isaiah‬ ‭7‬:‭7‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Ahaz, Judah, Jerusalem never stood strong on their own in the first place… God stood for them.  Ahaz is checked up / reminded that faith and repentance is what he needs.  “…If you do not stand firm in your faith, you will not stand at all.” Isaiah‬ ‭7‬:‭9‬ ‭NIV‬‬

God reminds them there is a plan… and it WILL be fulfilled…

“Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign: The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel.” Isaiah‬ ‭7‬:‭14‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Jesus was coming and has since come!

What’s the point for us?  Faith in Jesus, and His plan, Faith in the saving finished work of The Cross - That, and That ALONE is our ONLY HOPE.

“What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭8‬:‭31‬ ‭NIV‬‬
