Isaiah 6

Good Morning “No Excuses.”  Today we are in Isaiah 6.

What a familiar  passage.  Tell me at least one worship song doesn’t pop into your head as you read it!

What else comes to mind as you read it?  Excuses, excuses.  We’re all pretty good at coming up with excuses for why we can’t!

Moses had his excuse:
“Moses said to the Lord, “Pardon your servant, Lord. I have never been eloquent, neither in the past nor since you have spoken to your servant. I am slow of speech and tongue.” Exodus‬ ‭4‬:‭10‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Jeremiah had one:
“Alas, Sovereign Lord,” I said, “I do not know how to speak; I am too young.” Jeremiah‬ ‭1‬:‭6‬ ‭NIV‬‬

10 of the 12 spies who scouted the land of Canaan after the exodus had one: “But the men who had gone up with him said, “We can’t attack those people; they are stronger than we are.””
‭‭Numbers‬ ‭13‬:‭31‬ ‭NIV‬‬

And the list goes on.  I’ve had my share… What kind of excuses do you make?  What excuse do you give for not living faithfully, as God calls us?  We must realize that where God GUIDES, God PROVIDES?  He does not call us because He needs our giftedness to accomplish His purposes.  On the contrary He gifts us because we  need His provision and equipping to be successful in the things He calls us to.

So, like Isaiah, we must first realize we are unworthy in His presence and confess our sin to Him.  Then He cleanses us from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9) when we place our faith in Him, and He fills us with His Holy Spirit.  (Romans 15:13)  Then He calls us and specifically equips us for the work He has called us to.  (Hebrews 13:20-21, Ephesians 2:8-10).  When we obey and heed His call, He literally works through us (even as He is working on us through sanctification) to accomplish the goal to which we are called.

“being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.”
‭‭Philippians‬ ‭1‬:‭6‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Why can’t we?  Honestly we can’t!  But, oh He can!  So, “Here I am!  Send me!”

Love you all!  Dig in!
